Europe 1816-22. In the wake of the French Revolution, four famous Britons – the writers Lord Byron, Percy and Mary Shelley and Mary’s step-sister Claire Clairmont – renounce their homeland to seek liberty, truth and love in exile. But their public quest for social progress masks private torment and pain, ending in Shelley’s tragic death by drowning.
