The Edmonton Opera board of directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Yakimec to the combined position of General Manager and Artistic Director, effective immediately (November 13th).

Tim’s academic training and performance experience in the performing arts, as well as extensive experience behind the scenes and at senior administration levels, provides him with the appropriate skills for this position.

Over the past year as Edmonton Opera’s General Manager, Tim has demonstrated a collaborative leadership style that incorporates feedback from singers, directors, conductors, other opera directors and our own artistic advisory committee. He is a leader in listening to audience and patron feedback in order to create relevant and interesting performances within the means available to the company. Tim fosters a creative environment where all artists and staff are able to achieve success in their professions and respective departments.

The board looks forward to continuing to work with Tim Yakimec as we move Edmonton Opera forward as an exciting and sustainable performing arts force in Edmonton.
