The staff and board of Theatre Alberta were saddened to learn of the passing of Calgary sound designer and One Yellow Rabbit core ensemble member Richard McDowell. Richard passed away on November 7, 2014; he was sixty years old.

Richard was the resident sound designer and composer for One Yellow Rabbit for nearly thirty years, and we remember Richard as a mentor to many Calgary theatre artists and designers. Richard contributed a brilliant one-page article on best practices for sound design to Theatre Alberta’s All Stages Magazine Fall 2013 issue on Design.

A celebration of life for Richard is being held today (November 12) in the Big Secret Theatre at the Epcor Centre for the Arts at 2 p.m.
