SCRIPT SALON ANNOUNCES SIX NEW
PLAY READINGS FOR 2014-2015
Six months ago the Northern Alberta members of the Playwrights Guild of Canada launched a new play reading series. Featuring the work of local playwrights being read by professional actors in the elegant setting of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, SCRIPT SALON has proven to be a great hit to audiences and actors alike, even gaining some national attention.
Six plays were announced in March and performed for the first round of SCRIPT SALON. With winter approaching we are happy to announce a second round of six plays that will take the series into 2015.
Presented the first Sunday of every month with a different play by a different playwright featured every time, SCRIPT SALON is a theatrical kaleidoscope of colourful comedy, drama, romance and adventure illuminated by the power of imagination.
Up in October is AT THE STARLITE by Richard Gishler
Read by Belinda Cornish, Anne McGrath, Jesse Gervais, Clinton Carew, Elena Porter and Patrick Lundeen
Sunday October 5 at 7:30 in the Upper Arts Space at Holy Trinity Anglican Church (10037 84 Avenue).
The Story: Against her better judgment director Julie Bennett agrees to take on the upcoming production at the luckless StarLite Dinner Theatre. Dealing with a an unhappy cast, unskilled technicians and unexpected crises would be trouble enough, but Julie finds herself trying to coax a passable performance out of a faded TV star who has never before appeared onstage. The show must go on, but can one woman’s sanity survive the attempt? A side splitting insider’s look at the world of the live stage.
Admission is free. Donations are accepted. Refreshments are available. Parking is free.
The following months will feature:
November 2 THE PREACHER, THE PRINCESS AND A CROW by Nicole Moeller
