GENERAL MANAGER – EDMONTON MUSICAL THEATRE
Edmonton Musical Theatre (EMT), a non-profit musical theatre performance training society is seeking to fill the General Manager position for a period of one year, beginning September 1, 2014, to off-set a sabbatical leave. This is a part-time contract position requiring work on some evenings and weekends.
Working in partnership with the EMT Board, the Musical Director and Artistic Team, the General Manager reports directly to the Board of Directors and works with them to achieve the mandate of EMT. Reporting directly to the Board, the General Manager is responsible for the overall management of EMT, key stakeholder relationship engagement and the achievement of the organization’s strategic business plan goals as set by the Board of Directors. The position ensures the reputation, brand and vision of the organization is at the forefront of programming initiatives and fosters a culture of openness and collaboration essential to the organization’s mission, mandate and ongoing success. Responsibilities include:
- Annual operating budget and financial forecasting, including cash flow statements;
- Contract and volunteer management;
- Liaising with stakeholders;
- Audience development and community outreach;
- Policy and strategic planning in cooperation with the Board;
- Overseeing and operating EMT’s programs in collaboration with the Musical Director and artistic team; and
- Coordinating and conducting media relations.
The ideal candidate will have proven leadership capability, experience in management or supervision of a small not-for-profit arts or equivalent organization; event planning and/or fundraising; managing budgets and fiscal responsibility; ability to translate artistic needs and values into organizational strategies and operating plans; and experience working with and engaging a Board of Directors.
Musical theatre training and/or work equivalent training and the ability to lead, delegate and incorporate teams supporting EMT’s artistic vision would be an asset.
