Additional information:

“The Mothers” is a one woman play written by Nicole Moeller, getting its
world premiere at SkirtsAfire HerArts Festival 2015. It takes place in
the bedroom of a mother’s teenage son who is in jail for bringing a gun
to school and killing one of his peers 3 weeks before graduation. His
room is packed up in boxes, which the Mother unpacks as she grapples
with her own guilt, her need to hold onto who she thought her son was,
discover meaning in her own life and to find answers to why he committed
the sensational crime that has turned her life upside down.

SkirtsAfire is a multi-disciplinary Arts Festival that features the work
of women. 2015 is the third year of the Festival and the first to
premiere a new play. Each year SkirtsAfire develops new plays written by
women in partnership with the Alberta Playwright’s Network. 4 plays are
chosen through a submission process for dramaturgy and development with
a sneak peak reading in “The Peep Show” during the Festival. Plays
further in their development get a staged reading and each year
SkirtsAfire will now premiere a play ready for full production. For
2015, this will be “The Mothers”
