News (Edmonton): 2014 Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards recipients announced

Congratulations to all the 2014 Sterling award recipients and nominees from the 2013-2014 Edmonton theatre season! The 27th Annual Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards took place at The Mayfield Dinner Theatre on Monday June 30th. Timothy Ryan Award for outstanding production of a musical: Hairspray (Mayfield Dinner Theatre)

Outstanding independent production: East of Berlin (Punctuate! /East West Collective)

Outstanding set design: Bretta Gerecke, Make Mine Love (Citadel)

Outstanding costume design: Leona Brausen, Whiplash Weekend (Teatro La Quindicina)

Outstanding lighting design: Bretta Gerecke, Salome (Edmonton Opera)

Outstanding multimedia design: Owen Brierley and Jordan Dowler-Coltman, Make Mine Love (Citadel)

Outstanding score of a play or musical: Jonathan Kawchuk, The Genius Code (Surreal SoReal Theatre)

Outstanding musical director: Van Wilmott, Hairspray (Mayfield )

Outstanding choreography or fight direction: Tracy Flye, Hairspray (Mayfield)

Outstanding production for young audiences: I Am For You (Concrete Theatre)

Outstanding artistic achievement, theatre for young audiences: Jonathan Purvis, acting/fight direction, I Am For You (Concrete)
