News (Alberta): Heather Inglis receives 2014 Emerging Artists Award

Emerging-Artist_Heather_InglisCongratulations to Heather Inglis, Artistic Director of Theatre YES, who received one of eight 2014 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artists Awards. In a private ceremony at Government House, Lieutenant Governor Ethell presented medals and a $10,000 award each to Daniel Bennett, a.k.a. Transit (Calgary), Jenna Butler (Edmonton), Tracy Cantin (Chicago and born in Red Deer), Nuela Charles(Edmonton), Heather Inglis (Edmonton), Josée Aubin Ouellette (Edmonton), Jennifer Quist (Lacombe), and Kyle Thomas (Calgary). The eight were selected from nearly 200 applications in a two-tiered adjudication process overseen by The Banff Centre.

“There is no shortage of creative energy in Alberta, said His Honour Col. (Ret’d) the Honourable Donald S. Ethell. “These artists have talent, but they also have relentless focus and drive. They are representing us to the world with distinction.”
