VOLUNTEER POSTING: Administrative Assistant

Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre is seeking a motivated and organized individual for the volunteer position of Administrative Assistant.

Now in its 7th year, Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre continues to grow. In the next year, it will gain charitable status, access new revenue streams and expand its operations. In order to keep up with the increasing demands of an emerging professional company, we require administrative support to help achieve our creative goals.

We are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about theatre and the performing arts, and who wish to learn more about running a small, not-for-profit arts organization. Applicants should be able to work both in a collaborative team and independently, with motivation and initiative. Previous administrative experience and computer skills are considered an asset.

This volunteer opportunity is well-suited to emerging artists and arts administrators seeking experience and training with regards to the business and operations of a theatre company.

Some of the Administrative Assistant’s responsibilities could include: public funding applications; developing and maintaining company archives; website and social media maintenance; publicity and marketing; researching new revenue sources; and event planning. A specific list of responsibilities will be developed in collaboration with the successful applicant, based on the company’s needs and the applicant’s interests.

Hours are negotiable; the estimated time commitment is 5-10 hours / week, with a preference for some daytime availability. The term of this volunteer position is open-ended, beginning in June 2014
