The DeFakto Theatre Co. will be holding auditions for our upcoming show, Happiness, on Saturday Apr. 19th from 10am-4pm at the Morpheus Theatre Rehearsal Space (located in the basement of the Parkdale Community Centre).
Please prepare ONE contemporary monologue and be prepared to do some cold reads from the script.
We do many things for the sake of being happy, but are we truly happy? What does it mean to be happy? Could happiness actually be more akin to a neurosis, a psychiatric disorder, or is it just a nice feeling we’re all addicted to? In the new play, Happiness, by Parvis Ramirez, produced by The DeFakto Theatre Co., four office workers grapple with love, life and the allusiveness of a little thing called happiness.
BLAKE – Late 20’s to 30’s
Has been working his 9 to 5 job for a while now but has become disillusioned by the monotony and predictability of it all. Which has led him to him questioning the notion of happiness and if it’s even possible.
CAROL- Late 20’s to 30’s
The eternal optimist, no matter what.
DALE – Late 20’s to 30’s
Optimistic in his own way. The type to have coasted on charm and good looks but not much in the way of substance.
FAYE – Early 20’s
Trying to figure out her way in the world. A few years out of college.
