The Greeks have beaten the Trojans, the great city of Troy has been conquered. However, with King Agamemnon’s victorious return to Argos, the war within the House of Atreus is just getting started. Murder, betrayal, and revenge run deep within this family’s veins. How far would you go avenge the deaths those you love? The Curse of the House of Atreus brings you a new adaptation of Aeschylus’s The Oresteia, the only surviving trilogy of Greek tragedies. An ancient story re-imagined. Come meet this classic dysfunctional family and help put an end to their curse. See for yourself if justice prevails…
WHEN: Auditions will be held in groups, each lasting one hour in length.

The Curse of the House of Atreus will explore a variety of different methods of physical theatre including, gesture work, flocking, shadow puppetry, and image creation in association with traditional text work. The play will combine physical and verbal storytelling to create a new, unique version of the ancient story of The Oresteia. Actors cast in the show will experience a number of different styles of training.
The Auditions for The Curse of the House of Atreus will take place in small groups.
Part 1 will involve individual monologues and Part 2 will involve group movement exploration. You may be asked to work your monologue with the director.
Please prepare the appropriate monologue. There is a monologue for males and one for females. Monologues will be emailed to auditionees upon sign up and will also be available on our website (www.cypt.ca) as of April 21, 2014.
Tips from Mike:
o Come in with a character. I want to see how you can transform.
o Be confident.
o Have a clear place where the person you are talking to is. (Don’t speak your monologue to the director.)

PART 2: Movement Exploration:
This part will be physical group work. Come in comfortable clothes and be ready to move.
o Allow yourself to play.
o You don’t have to be a dancer to be a mover.
o Be creative.
Please ensure that you book your audition by 5:00pm on Tuesday May 6th, 2014 at the latest!
