A stranger in a strange land wakes in a state of delirium that turns her comfortable understanding of the world – and her place within it – completely inside out.

The Fever is an impassioned appeal that springs straight from the heart of Wallace
Shawn. For months he performed it only in the living rooms of his friends and acquaintances, where he felt it wouldn’t be mistaken for mere “theatre”. But when he finally took it to the stage in 1991, it won the Obie award for best new play.

Arguably that’s because The Fever does what the most lasting of all art aspires to do: whether or not it changes your mind, you’ll have a hard time not talking about it with
your friends and acquaintances.

theatre no. 6 is proud to present Melissa Thingelstad performing Shawn’s 2012 revision of his original script.
