Now in our 26th season, the Freewill Shakespeare Festival brings Edmonton a new kind of summer “Shakespeareience” as we move indoors to the Myer Horowitz Theatre to present the comedic favourite The Taming of the Shrew. There are many benefits to moving inside: no rain, mosquitoes or loud motor bikes interrupting the shows to name a few.
However, the additional costs and shortened run will have a lasting impact not only on this season but on seasons to come.
That’s why we need your help. We’re asking our amazing supporters to sign up for the Goodwill for Freewill campaign. If you visit our website you can sign up for a monthly donation that costs as little as a latte and you’ll receive a tax receipt for your generosity.
Last year 14,000 people attended the Festival, even a $5/month donation will help soften the financial blow this year, and continue to ensure the longevity of your favourite Shakespeare Festival. One thing we’ve learned this season is that we need to prepare for the unexpected and to do that we need resources for these worse-case scenarios.
