FREEWILL SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL
MOVES INDOORS!
JULY 9 – 27, 2014
MYER HOROWITZ THEATRE
(Students’ Union Building, 8900 114 St)
It’s been touch-and-go over the last few weeks at Freewill, but thanks to the wonderful support of our community we have finally found an answer to our venue issues for our 26th season.
This year is going to look quite a bit different from our previous runs as we move indoors and prepare to produce one show instead of two this season.
This year we present The Taming of the Shrew in the Myer Horowitz Theatre from July 9 to 27, 2014. Though we’re saddened that we can’t produce this incredible show outdoors, the Horowitz Theatre is an excellent substitute while the Heritage Amphitheatre is being repaired.
There are many benefits to moving inside: no rain, mosquitoes or loud motor bikes interrupting the shows to name a few. However, the additional costs and shortened run will have a lasting impact not only on this season but on seasons to come.
That’s why we need your help. We’re asking our amazing supporters to sign up for the Goodwill for Freewill campaign. If you visit our CanadaHelps page you can sign up for a monthly donation that costs as little as a latte and you’ll receive a tax receipt for your generosity.
Last year 14,000 people attended the Festival, even a $5/month donation will help soften the financial blow this year, and continue to ensure the longevity of your favourite Shakespeare Festival. One thing we’ve learned this season is that we need to prepare for the unexpected and to do that we need resources for these worse-case scenarios. You can sign up HERE.
