News: Theatre Alberta announces workshop lineup for Dramaworks 2014

Theatre Alberta, in partnership with The Citadel Theatre, is pleased to welcome Albertan, National and International theatre artists to instruct a slate of seven workshops and master classes at Dramaworks 2014.  We are pleased to be returning to The Citadel Theatre to host Dramaworks after a five year hiatus! Online registration to attend Dramaworks 2014 will begin on April 7th.

Dramaworks is a biennial workshop series event that welcomes theatre artists province wide: professionals, enthusiasts, and educators alike. Dramaworks is designed for all levels of skill and experience; Theatre Alberta also offers financial bursaries for artists to attend Dramaworks.

Five Dramaworks workshops will run 2.5 days,  July 4 – 6, and will offer a range of skill-building theatre instruction, including choreography, dialects/accents, directing, monologue performance, and costuming. Meet our Dramaworks 2014 Workshop Instructors:

We are pleased to present two renowned international theatre companies to instruct 5-day master classes from July 2 – 6:

Dramaworks 2014 will offer a master class by Belarus Free Theatre – the first of its kind in Canada – introducing their Investigative Theatre creation method.

Founded in 2005, as a means of resisting government pressure and censorship, Belarus Free Theatre is the country’s only non-state owned and controlled theatre company. Theatre Alberta is pleased to welcome co-founding member Vladimir Shcherban to Alberta to teach Belarus Free Theatre’s unique methodology.

Dramaworks 2014 also welcomes 3-Legged Dog Theater + Media Group (3LD), based in New York, to teach a master class in Multimedia Production Design.

3LD is a world leader in experiential art. Pushing the boundaries of design and reality, the company produces new original works in theatre, performance, media, and hybrid forms.
