On February 18th, the Board of Directors of Workshop West Theatre announced that Michael Clark had tendered his resignation in order to pursue artistic and other opportunities.
Under his leadership Workshop West produced 15 productions including 12 world premieres, eight of which were their playwrights’ professional debuts. So far these new plays have garnered 11 subsequent productions as well as readings at theatres across Canada, the US and Europe, yielding 16 awards or nominations. In 2008, Clark created The Canoe Theatre Festival and curated it for seven years. His work brought contemporary theatre artists from around the globe to Edmonton and supported new creation by local artists, building an audience for both.
Liz Nicholls of the Edmonton Journal contacted Michael about his resignation. Click here to read more about this story on Liz’s blog, StageStruck.
Theatre Alberta wishes Michael the best of luck in his new endeavours!
