News: TELUS Calgary Community Board supports Artstrek 2014 scholarship program

TELUS Calgary Community BoardTheatre Alberta is pleased to announce that the TELUS Calgary Community Board is supporting Artstrek scholarship applicants from Calgary in 2014.

TELUS Community Boards are comprised of volunteer board members who work with TELUS to identify and fund grassroots programs of charities operating in major centres where TELUS operates. Each board member brings a unique skill set and has an outstanding background of experience in a specific focus area – specifically arts, culture, health, environment, sports and/or working with youth. There are 11 Canadian TELUS Community Boards and three International Boards that provide funding.

In 2013, Theatre Alberta applied to the TELUS Calgary Community Board for help supporting our Artstrek Scholarship program. Theatre Alberta strives to make Artstrek: A Summer Theatre School for Teens available to all Albertan teens, regardless of ability to pay. We offer a limited number of scholarships for Artstrek students in financial need. In 2013, Theatre Alberta provided scholarships to 30 students.

Theatre Alberta staff Maura Penn, Aaron Talbot and Keri Mitchell happily receive a cheque from TELUS to support Artstrek 2014 scholarship applicants from Calgary.
