Theatre Technician,/strong>
One (1) Permanent Full-Time Position
The City of Fort Saskatchewan is a vibrant economic and cultural hub located just 15 minutes northeast of Edmonton on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. Home to more than 21,000 people, the City proudly manages state of the art recreation, culture and historic amenities including 50 km of outdoor trails, a performing arts theatre and fitness centre within the Dow Centennial Centre, and the 1875 – 1885 NWMP Fort representation in historic downtown.
Reporting to the Shell Theatre Supervisor, the Theatre Technician is responsible for the technical operation and maintenance of the audio, visual and lighting equipment in the performing arts theatre and other venues within the Dow Centennial Centre. The Theatre Technician will oversee all technical requirements and deliver related professional services for all events within the DCC, and on occasion within other City facilities. Included is accommodating requests made by performing artists and user groups, often with little advanced notice and finding solutions to maintain the safety and/or artistic integrity of the performance.
Candidates will have demonstrated experience in production management, touring productions and venue reconfigurations. A diploma or degree from a technical theatre program or equivalent and minimum 1 to 3 years directly related experience is required. Knowledge and experience in carpentry, lighting, audio and video, and proficiency in a variety of computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Windows Media, Quick Time and AutoCAD drafting is essential. The successful candidate will have the ability to work well under pressure, prioritize and organize workloads and must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills to interact professionally and effectively with both external and internal stakeholders.
The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a competitive compensation package with a salary range of $63,291 to $74,460 per annum.
