Jason Markusoff of the Calgary Herald reported on November 25 about a motion made to cut $315,000 from Calgary Arts Development’s (CADA) operating budget. The money would have been used to bail out The EPCOR Centre of the Arts, which had its operating budget trimmed by that amount in provincial funding, leaving the Council looking for ways to help the Centre balance its budget.
City Council debated the motion, but it was defeated 11-4. Funding for the EPCOR Centre will come from City reserves.
