U of A’s BFA acting company play doctor in Pains of Youth
Prognosis: Heartache
U of A Studio Theatre mounts Pains of Youth, a play that hits close to home, featuring the 2014 BFA acting class playing medical students. Pains of Youth follows a psychologically complex group of characters struggling with the same issues all generations of twenty-somethings face:
Hooking up. Breaking up. To pursue or abandon commitments.
Vienna. 1920s. The stench of the war and disease of the decade before still hangs in the air. The dark spectre of fascism looms large on the horizon.
A group of stressed and depressed medical students study, drink, and sleep together in a boarding house.
