Dawn: I wish I could have gone longer or could have been hired to be a super. Les Mis, Our Town and Who Has Seen the Wind are always and forever in my heart and I plan to pass that down to my children and hope they will share the love of Artstrek along with me when they are older.
I was the first student from my school to go to Artstrek. In fact I was so excited that me and my mom didn’t realize I went to Ex 1 when I was supposed to go to Ex 2, so that was a long drive back and forth to Slave Lake. Since 2005 being a part of Les Miserables, it completely changed my life. I made the most amazing friends, who I am still friends with today. Since that year I went for three years I paid and got myself there and home each year and I wouldn’t have done it any different. I learned so much there, yoga for one LOL I still do the sun salutation, and I still try and sing as much as possible, especially to my daughter who I hope to send there one year. I honestly didn’t even think I could sing before I went to Artstrek until my best friend Kevin told me I have an amazing voice. To this day I can’t listen to the finale of Les Miserables without remembering how beautifully the altos and sopranos harmonized perfectly and made pretty much every guy cry, I still see them all crying as they were singing. As well nothing stays in your heart as much as remembering seeing all your classmates join hand in hand singing “Rose Rose,” it made me feel so close to every single one of them each year.
