A new mobile app version of the Alberta Culture Calendar allows users to easily find cultural events anywhere, anytime on their iPhone or iPad.
“By connecting Albertans and other visitors to what’s happening in every corner of our province, we’re helping to build communities, one of the pillars of our cultural policy. Whether your interest is music and theatre, or in museum exhibits, festivals and heritage sites, you can find out what’s going on in and around where you live or where you’re visiting.”
App users can simply search the Alberta Culture Calendar by community, category, date, or by scrolling a map of Alberta. Once found, events can be shared with friends and family through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and e-mail.
With just a touch of their iPhone, app users can even build and share their own event itineraries, or use the app to promote a cultural event. The Alberta Culture Calendar provides provincewide events listings year-round. The mobile app will display information from all events that are added to the calendar.
“All writers and actors and sculptors and musicians and painters really want are audiences. The Alberta Culture Calendar is a brilliant way to bring audiences and artists together, today or next week, in every city, town and village in the province. Artists upload their events, audiences download the app, and all of Alberta is filled with beauty and truth.”
In 2013, the Alberta Culture Calendar is expected to hold more than 6,500 events, surpassing last year’s total of 5,000.
The free Alberta Culture Calendar mobile app for iPhone is available on the Government of Alberta mobile app gallery, AlbertaCultureCalendar.ca, and Apple’s App Store.
If you don’t have an iPhone or iPad, users can still access the Alberta Culture Calendar by visiting www.albertaculturecalendar.ca. The web-based version of the calendar has all the same features as the mobile app.
