The Edmonton Arts Council (EAC) is a not-for-profit organization that supports and promotes the arts community in Edmonton and works to increase the profile and involvement of arts and culture in all aspects of our community life. The EAC, recognizing that Edmonton is a city that values the role of arts in society, encourages innovation, exploration and dialogue in and with the city’s arts community. The EAC aspires to reflect the true diversity of the city of Edmonton.

Reporting to the assistant executive director, external, and working with the city’s diverse communities, the community liaison works with all EAC program areas, the arts community, and the EAC’s partners, towards building a truly equitable and diverse arts council in Edmonton. Through establishing and maintaining positive relationships and partnerships with diverse communities in Edmonton, the community liaison helps to increase those communities’ awareness of, engagement with and success in the EAC’s program areas. The community liaison will encourage connections between artists and organizations from diverse communities, and other artists, arts organizations and events in Edmonton.

The community liaison works to

-Increase awareness of all of the EAC’s programs among diverse communities
-Connect artists from diverse communities with the EAC and other Edmonton artists and arts organizations
-Identify existing barriers to success for artists from diverse communities and works with all EAC program areas to mitigate or remove said barriers
-Implement recommendations of the EAC’s 2012 Cultural Diversity Audit relevant to the EAC’s program areas

This position requires the ability to work on multiple projects with a range of partners, collaborators and stakeholders, simultaneously. The ideal candidate is an experienced communicator and community builder, excited by the prospects of the continued development and maturation of a diverse arts community in Edmonton.
