Robot Performers Needed!
Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre Company will be presenting their newest production of i-ROBOT Theatrethis September as part of Beakerhead; a city wide spectacle of Arts, Engineering, and Science.
Until then, we need some awesome Robot performers to hang out at various events around the city to help get the word out about i-ROBOT Theatre! This is a super fun, collaborative and creative project that we’d love for you to be a part of. We’re looking for people to dress up, put on some silver body paint, and interact with the public as a Robot character. This can be anything from a typical “b-movie” cardboard box robot, to a love-sick cyborg, or a wacky humanoid! The possibilities are endless!
Some dates we are looking to fill:
July 5th – 14th – Stampede
July 12th – “BIG” @ Commonwealth and Broken City
August 2nd – 10th – Calgary Fringe Festival
August 3rd – Inglewood Sunfest
September 6th – Outdoor Movie @ East Village
September 11th – 15th – BEAKERHEAD!
We are also in the midst of organizing a Robot Flash Mob that will potentially make an appearance at some of these events!
This is volunteer gig, however, it’s a great way to have some fun in the sun and perform around the city for various cultural events!
Requirements:
– Some performance experience
– Improvisation skills are an asset
– Ability to interact with the public
– Open to wearing silver body paint for an extended period of time
If you, or someone you know may be interested in joining us for any of these events, please reply to Taryn Craig, tarynjc@gmail.com with a rough availability for some of these dates.
