Northern Light Theatre is delighted to present their Performance Camps for Young People this summer. Now in its eighth year, Northern Light Theatre’s performance camps are Edmonton’s only summer theatre camp to combine a classic tale with history for a unique blend of education, performance and FUN.
Accomplished Theatre Artist and arts educator, Maralyn Ryan, returns to direct the troupe of young aspiring performers through their theatrical journey. The students are given the opportunity to explore singing, acting and movement as they rehearse an original play adapted from a significant time in history. Other classes include improvisation, theatre games, acting techniques which stoke the imagination and enhance ensemble work.
Past summers have included full productions of Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Beauty and Beast, Sherlock Holmes and the Emerald of Alcazar, and Legend of Sleepy Hollow. This summer is sure to be full of eye popping shenanigans and hilarity as the cast brings The Emperor’s New Clothes to the stage!
Ms. Ryan’s illustrious career in theatre as an actor, director, instructor, writer, puppeteer, also includes 40 years of Children’s Theatre. She founded and was Artistic Director of the St. Albert Children’s Theatre for 10 years, directed The Globe Young People’s Theatre in Regina and the Heritage Park Children Theatre Camp in Fort McMurray, for 12 years. or the Citadel Theatre, she was Director of the Theatre School, The Children’s International Theatre Festival and Teen Festival of the Arts.
