Production Apprentice, Vertigo Theatre (Calgary, AB)
Vertigo Theatre seeks an individual for the position of Production Apprentice. Reporting to the Production and Facility Manger, the Production Apprentice will be exposed to all the aspects it takes to produce a professional production. The experience will be highly varied and can include everything from participating in lighting hangs, acting as production driver/buyer, props building/sourcing, running crew, and wardrobe.
The successful candidate shall be a highly motivated individual who has a keen interest in developing their skills in theatrical production. This position would be well suited to a recent graduate of theatre school or someone with a technical or production background in community theatre.
Vertigo Theatre is a successful theatre company with an operating budget of $2.5M. Its Production Department is made up of six positions: Production & Facility Manager, Technical Director, Assistant Technical Director, Production Apprentice, House Technician – The Playhouse and House Technician – The Studio. Set construction, props, and wardrobe are all contracted to outside contractors.
This is a seasonal position with a preferred start date of August 12, 2013.
