Alberta’s Minister of Culture, Heather Klimchuk, will take to the stage at the Varscona Theatre’s debut production of Teatro la Quindicina’s Cause and Effect to announce a $2 million provincial grant for a makeover of the city-owned theatre building.
Along with $2 million from the City of Edmonton, this provincial grant is part of a $6 million transformation plan for the Varscona Theatre. Plans to makeover the fifty-year old former fire hall have previously stalled, but this latest funding will be the start to a rejuvenation of one of Edmonton’s most beloved theatre spaces.
