The Major Matt Mason Theatre Collective Presents
girls! girls! girls!
girls! girls! girls! was written in response to the events surrounding the brutal death of Reena Virk in Victoria, BC, and the Columbine massacre in Colorado, USA. Candy-coated, vicious, playful, and raw, the play is a dissection of brutal violence, the desensitization to experience, and the crude denouncement of reckless emotion in the lives of the unrewarded. This animated, “hip-hop nursery-rhyme” explores what really goes through the minds of teenage tyrants growing up in a world of social regulation, expectation, and silence.

Major Matt Mason Theatre is a collection of artists dedicated to creating intimate and experimental theatre for Calgary’s younger generation. Founded in 2010 by long time collaborators Geoffrey Brown and Evan Medd, the collective is known for exploring alternative perspectives in small scale theatrical spaces. The group challenges young artists to step out of conventional roles and work as an ensemble to build provocative, contemporary, Canadian theatre.
