Three women in their thirties come “home” to Cape Breton to be with their dying mother. Each, in her own way, tries to deal with the painful loneliness of her life – each tries to reconcile what she has become with what she thought she wanted out of life and with what she thought her family wanted for her. Nothing, of course, has turned out exactly the way anyone imagined it would.
Characters:
(Please note that ages should reflect what you read as onstage – not your actual age.)
Agnes MacKeigan, eldest sister, 30s – 40s
Theresa MacKeigan, middle sister, 30s – 40s
Louise MacKeigan, youngest sister, 30s
Rehearsals will begin in mid September. Rehearsals will be scheduled around actor availability whenever possible. Rehearsal locations may be in Spruce Grove and/or Edmonton.
Audition Expectations:
You will be auditioning with a group of 4 to 5 other actors in a one-hour slot. Please prepare one of the three selected monologues (Agnes, Theresa, or Louise). You may memorize your monologue, but it is not expected. You may be asked to cold read from the play, so please familiarize yourself with it before auditioning. (Copies of the script may be available through the Theatre Alberta library.)
Please bring any conflict dates you have to the audition. Headshots and résumés are recommended but not required.
TO BOOK AN AUDITION or for further information, please email Anne Marie Szucs at amszucs@xplornet.com. Once you have booked an audition, you will receive the audition monologues by email.
