Third Street Theatre is looking for volunteer ushers and box office volunteers for its production of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play I Am My Own Wife by Doug Wright playing April 24 – May 4, 2013 at EPCOR CENTRE’s Motel.
Inspired by interviews conducted by playwright Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife is the true story of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, born Lothar Berfeld, who, as a young boy in pre-war Berlin, wanted nothing more than to wear pretty dresses. With bravery and resilience of spirit, she did whatever it took to remain authentic to herself in an increasingly unwelcoming world. She survived some of the 20th century’s most oppressive regimes while helping to preserve queer history and turning her antique collection into a museum, of which she was its rarest artifact.
Volunteering is a great way to see the production, so please consider volunteering for one or more performances, or volunteer with a friend or family member!
