The Academy of Fight Directors Canada is pleased to announce it’s 20th
annual National Stage Combat Workshop, to be held July 13-28th, 2013 at
Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec.
Since 1993, Fight Directors Canada has been offering world-renowned
classes for actors in the art of dramatic combat. And our 20th anniversary
workshop is shaping up to be the best yet, with Fight Masters, Directors
and Instructors from across Canada coming to share their expertise in the
art.
Stage combat training can offer an exciting and challenging method of
expression for performers in theatre and on camera. Learning to
communicate physically is essential to any actor’s training, and Fight
Directors Canada can help you to discover new ways to express characters
through a solid grounding in safe performance of simulated violence, clear
and strong choices, and commitment to the intent of the character and to
the story being told. Training in physical expression, and in stage combat
specifically, is an essential part of the ‘toolkit’ for actors, directors
and teachers alike.
Internationally recognized certification will be offered at the Basic,
Intermediate and Advanced Actor/Combatant levels, as well as Fight
Instructor and Fight Director certification for select candidates.. All
levels will receive a minimum of 80 hours of instruction from FDC
certified teachers, with opportunities for enrichment and interest classes
as well.
