Clinton Carew – The Black Rider by William Burroughs, Robert Wilson and Tom Waits – November Theatre, NYC, 1999
Antlers gripped tightly to the sides of my head, screaming notes I didn’t know I had, growling the poetry of William Burroughs and Tom Waits in a vaudeville theatre in the shadow of the Williamsburg bridge, two days after begging a customs agent to let our set across the border. My arm was still partially paralyzed from lack of bloodflow and a bullhorn made of sprayed steel and I still had no idea if any of this was going to work.
