Sarah Shudra – The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler- Peace Players, Peace River Alberta April 2011
Ever since I began dancing at the age of 6, I have not been able to stop! My love of dance fuelled my early passion for art. Since my childhood, I have come to appreciate and dabble in all the disciplines that are part of art. I am a native of Peru (Lima) and completed two years drama school in Lima before obtaining my degree in business administration. Whether in dance, music or theater, my heart beats for the arts!
I moved to Canada 8 years ago and my first theater experience here in Peace River, Alberta was in the musical, “The King and I” produced locally by the Peace Player three years ago; it was an unforgettable experience! Following my first Canadian performance, I acted in “SORRY BOUT THAT”, a Burlesque revue. But my favorite theatrical role was on “The Vagina Monologues” why? Because presented the possibilities to act in a polemical, transgressive, intelligent, dynamic and fun play and I just could not resist. I firmly believe in the key messages of “The Vagina Monologues”, which strives to establish a link between love and respect regarding women as well as the end to violence against women. I was so proud to be part of this play and special the role.
