About the Banff Professional Musical Theatre Training Intensive
The Banff Professional Musical Theatre Training Intensive offers an elite-level training opportunity for young musical theatre performers aspiring to a professional stage career. By providing unrivaled access to industry leading professionals and coaches, the intensive provides not only the ability for participants to catapult their skills to new levels, but also the ability to make connections with some of North America’s leading musical theatre professionals. Over the course of the 14-day intensive, participants will amplify their talent and passion with confidence and sophistication through an integrated program of master classes, private coaching, and professional development sessions.
The intensive focuses on increasing participants’ performative skills for communicating a story narrative through the three key components of musical theatre — song, text, and movement. Given the wide-ranging demands of contemporary musical theatre productions, the training addresses both the stage and vocal skills required for success in a variety of musical genres. By the culmination of the program, participants will have developed a solid and significant set of skills to accompany their dreams and passionate pursuit of standing out of the crowd on stage.
A rigorous schedule of daily classes within the professional theatre facilities of The Banff Centre will be taught by a faculty of New York City professionals, and an associate faculty of Canadian-based professionals, all of whom have extensive teaching and professional credits. The core of the intensive, classes will combine the voice, the actor, and the body for truthful and organic communication in musical theatre repertoire.
