The Edmonton Journal reported on February 18 that a fundraiser for Edmonton Opera and CapitalCare long term facilities raised over $300,000. 

Approximately 900 guests attended the evening, held last week at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton. Gene Zwozdesky, Speaker of the Alberta Legislative Assembly, was the gala emcee. “Edmonton Opera sent a seamstress over to fit me in my ringmaster’s costume after the show’s producer said I had to wear it,” said Zwozdesky.
