HEAD OF WARDROBE
The Canadian Badlands Passion Play is currently accepting applications for the Head of Wardrobe for the summer of 2013. The contract would run from May 6th to July 28th 2013.
The wardrobe team consists of: a Costume Designer, Head of Wardrobe, Wardrobe Administrator, Assistant Designers, Seamstresses, Dressers, and Production Volunteers.
Head of Wardrobe – Duties include but not limited to:
– Overseeing the setup, operation and maintenance of the wardrobe workshop, its costume stock and equipment.
– Under the supervision of the Costume Designer select and assign existing costume stock to specific actors.
– Conduct costume fittings of cast members and crew.
– Oversee the construction, alteration, and repair of costume stock, including collaboration with the Stitchers to assure the aforementioned is completed in a timely manner.
– Oversee management of costume preset, dressing, and quick-changes at dress rehearsals and performances as required by stage management.
– Oversee Wardrobe Staff in regards laundering of costumes for principle actors during dress rehearsals and performances.
– Collaborate with Stage management as to the return of Summer School costumes.
– Oversee pack up and winter storage of costume stock and wardrobe department equipment.
– Supervise the Wardrobe Staff to maintain efficient functioning of the wardrobe department.
– Other duties as may be required for the smooth operation of the wardrobe department.
The Canadian Badlands Passion Play is one of Canada’s largest outdoor theatrical events. Now in its 19th season, the company annually depicts the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in dramatic form. An epic story told on an epic scale, this year’s production features a creative retelling of the Gospel of John. The script will be performed by a mixed professional/volunteer cast of approximately 200 actors in a 2700-seat outdoor amphitheatre.

WARDROBE ASSISTANT & CAST COSTUME FACILITATOR:

The wardrobe team consists of: a Costume Designer, Head of Wardrobe, Wardrobe Administrator, Assistant Designers, Seamstresses, Dressers, and Production Volunteers.
Wardrobe Assistant/Cast Costume Facilitator – Duties include but not limited to:
Responsibilities:
– Entering in Actor & Costume Data, along with photographs of actors as per associate designer’s fittings
– Responsible for taking the photo’s for wardrobe tracking.
– Liaison with Wardrobe ASM to get actors for fittings as required.
– Attending Production meetings, to assist the head of wardrobe in taking and disseminate wardrobe notes.
– Schedule Quick Change rehearsals
– Ensure Designer is there when needed to see actors
– Working in the wardrobe department as a cutter, stitcher and dresser as required
– Hand-sewing, millinery, cobbling and craftwork as required.
– Maintenance and improvements to all types of armour & helmets.
– Instructing actors in the proper wearing of their armour.
– In the past, has been responsible for creating and presetting show blood.
This is a full time position, with Tuesday and Wednesday off, starting in Mid-May and finishing after Strike Week. The wardrobe administrator is one of the general wardrobe personnel team expected to have the skills necessary to participate in the general operations of Cutting, Stitching and Dressing within the Wardrobe department but they are also given the added responsibility of the performers costume distribution, marking and tracking.

Wardrobe Assistant– Duties include but not limited to:
– Working in the wardrobe department as a cutter, stitcher and dresser as required
– hand-sewing, millinery, cobbling and craftwork as required
– Dying and painting as required.
– Costume assembly from general stock for BG Actors, under the direction of the Head of Wardrobe and Costume Designer.
– Maintenance and design improvements to all types of armour & helmets.
– Costume Maintenance and Laundering as required.
– Costume pulling and storage as required.
– Responsible for sewing new costumes, under the guidelines of the Head of Wardrobe
– Alterations and repairs on stock costumes as required
– Presetting costumes before each show
– Assisting quick changes for actors as needed
– Assist with show laundry each night as required
– Often responsible for shoe repairs including sewing and glueing
This is a full time position filled by two or more people. As directed by the Head of Wardrobe they are responsible for the day to day functions and labour that makes the wardrobe department a success. The work week is Thursday to Monday.

ARMOUR SUPERVISOR/ COSTUME ARMORER:
The Canadian Badlands Passion Play is currently accepting applications for the Head of Wardrobe for the summer of 2013. The contract would run from June to July 28th 2013 (Dates TBC)
The wardrobe team consists of: a Costume Designer, Head of Wardrobe, Wardrobe Administrator, Assistant Designers, Seamstresses, Dressers, and Production Volunteers.
Armour Supervisor– Duties include but not limited to:
– responsible for overseeing the use and maintenance of the armoury
– maintenance and design improvements to all types of armour & helmets.
– proper care and polishing of armour, as well as repairing chain-mail and loricas as needed.
– Instructing actors in the proper wearing of their armour
– Expected to prepare and polish all armour for show readiness
The Costume Armourer is part of the Wardrobe production crew, who’s sole job is to prep and maintain and the armour used for and during the shows. They prepare and polish the armour pre-show so it is ready for use by performers, then distribute it to performers during the show and assist actors with dressing into their armour and then post show they assist in actors removal of their armour, collect it, maintain it, and store it for the next show day.
