SYNOPSIS:
Clowns aren’t just for birthdays….think of Mr.Bean, Lucille Ball, Charlie Chaplin, Carol Burnett and the hilarious clowns of Cirque du Soleil! In this class, students will share their sense of humor through games and ensemble exercises. They will explore physical comedy, character clown work and comic routine construction. They will work towards developing an availability to play for the audience.

INSTRUCTOR BIO:
Alice Nelson is an Actor, Playwright, Director, Producer, Puppeteer, Improviser and Clown based in Calgary, Alberta. She holds an MFA in Ensemble Created Theatre from Dell’Arte Physical Theatre School in California. She has written and toured three solo shows and co-created productions regarding social and political issues. Her company, Organized Crime is dedicated to producing controversial works that bear witness to the world we know . She has directed for Lunchbox Theatre (selected as Emerging Director 2011/2012) , Loose Moose Theatre and Empress Theatre. She frequently leads workshops in clown, melodrama, Commedia and improv. Her passion is supporting Clowns Without Borders and raising awareness of their amazing work!
