Auditions (Edmonton): Tristan and Isolde – Serca Festival of Irish Theatre

We are holding auditions for an independent production of a newly adapted version of Tristan and Isolde that will be presented as part of the Serca Festival of Irish Theatre taking place Feb. 23-March 3, 2013.

Roles to be cast:
Isolde: age 20-30, must be extremely comfortable with movement/dance, experience with aerial silks is an asset

Tristan: age 20-30, must be extremely comfortable with movement/dance, experience with aerial silks and ropes is an asset, some sword fighting may also be required

King Mark: age 25-35, some sword fighting may also be required.

We are looking for actors who are comfortable with poetic text and with movement/choreography. Experience with either aerial silks or aerial rope work is an asset, but not required.
Rehearsals will be from 2pm-10pm Tuesdays through Thursdays and 10am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays starting Feb. 3 and running through to the opening of the festival.
Pay will be $500 per week for the 3 weeks of rehearsal and the 1 week of performance. Some availability during the week of January 13-19, 2013 will also be required in order to workshop the production. Actors will be compensated for their time during the workshop period.

Auditions will be held on Saturday December 8 from 5-8pm and Sunday December 9 from 10am-1pm. Auditions will consist of a read from the text as well as a short movement piece (can be improvised), prepared by the actor. A CD/iPod player will be available.
