Writers in central Alberta are invited to join Scripts At Work, central Alberta’s playwright development series that gives unique opportunities for new and emerging writers to work closely with theatre professionals. Due to the popularity of the series and the wealth of talent in the region, SAW has increased the number of writing opportunities this year.
PLAYWRIGHT CIRCLES
December 2 – April 14 | Red Deer College
Application Deadline: November 25
Circle One – Entry Level Playwrights (6 Sessions; 16 participants)
Professional Writers/Dramaturgs: Mieko Ouchi and Brian Dooley (8 participants each)
New playwrights will develop a one act play. Participants will meet for six sessions over five months and will be guided through the first draft of a new work. Cost: $100
Circle Two – Emerging Playwrights (6 Sessions; 4 Participants)
Professional Writer/Dramaturg: Mieko Ouchi
Emerging playwrights familiar with the basics of writing for theatre will receive dramaturgical input to support the writing of a one act or full-length play. Participants will meet six times over five months. Cost: $100 *Almost full
Circle Three – Experienced Playwrights (6 Sessions; 4 Participants)
