Theatre Network, Edmonton’s second largest producing Theatre Company, is seeking a dedicated and energetic individual for the contract position of Outreach Coordinator to lead the “Where the Blood Mixes” Outreach Program.

Theatre Network offers a three-show mainstage season, featuring the finest in contemporary theatre, including commissioned works from Alberta Playwrights. The company hosts Nextfest, a multidisciplinary festival of emerging artists, and presents the Roxy Performance Series, featuring a wide-range of professional theatre and other performances at its home, the Roxy Theatre.

About the position
The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for the advance planning of community outreach and promotion for the production Where the Blood Mixes, running February 12 to March 3, 2013. The goal of the Outreach Coordinator is to connect with targeted groups in Edmonton and surrounding areas, with particular focus on connecting to organizations, schools and/or individuals in the Aboriginal community. Acting as a liaison between targeted organizations and Theatre Network, the Outreach Coordinator will also arrange and facilitate pre/post-show events and arrange matinee performances with high schools and youth organizations.

Deliverables of the contract to include:

• Create an Outreach Package detailing the production, the artistic company and attendance opportunities for targeted groups.
• Determine which organizations to connect with and how to best promote the production to the organization’s members and staff through group bookings, cross-promotion, discounts, sponsorship., etc; as well as help facilitate those groups in attending performances.
• Act as a liaison between outreach organizations and Theatre Network staff.
• Plan and organize pre/post-show events including but not limited to Q & A sessions, panel discussions, receptions etc.
• Book matinee performances with high schools and youth organizations; assist in seeking sponsorship and/or funding support to facilitate groups with limited budgets in travel to the theatre and ticket packages.
• Work with Theatre Network staff to determine timelines, crossover and consistent messaging.
• Report to Theatre Network as required during the contract period on status of deliverables and confirmed outreach initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong background in marketing, promotions and community outreach initiatives.
• Familiarity with Alberta’s Aboriginal communities and organizations, as well as organizations that work closely with or have interest in Alberta’s Aboriginal population.
• Experience in administration.
• Solid organizational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of the theatre industry an asset.
• Experience working with high schools and/or youth organizations an asset.

This is a contract position running from mid-November 2012 to mid-March 2013.
