Part time puppeteer – Edmonton Epilepsy Association – The Kids On The Block program
The purpose of the program is to “increase children and teacher’s understanding of epilepsy, increase knowledge of first aid, provide confidence in responding to a seizure, empower children living with epilepsy to feel safe, supported and accepted in their school, and empower classmates to understand and accept individual differences.”
There are two short scripts, Caesar’s Seizures and Brian has a Seizure. They are about 12 minutes long, followed by a 15 minute question and answer period; the plays are aimed at an elementary school audience. The Edmonton Epilepsy Association has the puppets and equipment required. They pay an honorarium of $50.00 for schools inside the city and $75.00 for outside the city. There are roughly three to four bookings per month minimum.
