Directing Internship Opportunity
2012/2013 Season New Work

The intern will observe and assist Catalyst’s Artistic Director as he works with the creative team on a new Catalyst production, premiering in late April 2013. Through this experience the intern can expect to:
• strengthen communication and collaboration skills
• develop tools for creative problem-solving and leadership within a team environment
• hone abilities to make powerful yet manageable creative offers that both respond to and inspire the choices of all other members of the creative team
• increase understanding of how to evolve a bold artistic vision
Responsibilities:
The intern will report to Catalyst’s Artistic Director and will support him in various capacities including:
• Participating in production and creative meetings
• Conducting research as requested
• Contributing to relevant outreach materials as requested
• Attending rehearsals
• Updating rehearsal script
• Assisting with note taking as required
To benefit from this internship the applicant should have:
• A graduate degree in directing or equivalent professional experience
• Proficiency with Macintosh computers and Microsoft Word
• A positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
• A desire for accuracy and attention to details
• An ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Strong time management skills and an ability to prioritize
• Knowledge, understanding and experience of music is an asset
Eligibility:
• This opportunity is open to applicants 35 years or younger only
• Applicants must be Edmonton-based
Dates:
• Full time from April 2nd to May 1st, 2013 with some meetings and assignments prior to these dates, to be determined in consultation with the Artistic Director.
Remuneration:
• Catalyst will provide an Honorarium of $2,000.
