News: Azimuth Theatre’s Living Room Playhouse saved!

As reported by Liz Nicholls in the Edmonton Journal Azimuth Theatre’s Living Room Playhouse in Edmonton will remain open after a new partnership was announced with the John Humphrey Centre for Peace And Human Rights.

Azimuth’s collaboration with the John Humphrey Centre, a non-profit organization devoted to providing and promoting human rights among marginalized groups, means that “we’re tied together as roommates, and in programming,” Utas says. Azimuth will contract to provide “artistic services” to the John Humphrey Centre’s clientele: original plays, workshops and other training, plus appearances at the kind of international conferences the centre attends. Azimuth will provide “facility management” at the Living Room Playhouse, including rentals to strapped indie theatre producers who rely on the intimate little space.
