THE PLAY:
Greetings From Sardineland follows Sam Stewart and Max Malcolm, the writer and artist (respectively) for a hard-boiled detective comic in the 1950’s. When something called the Comics Code Authority comes into the picture, threatening to ruin their publication with censorship, they are forced to deal with the consequences and test the boundaries of their relationship.

At once hilarious and heartwarming, the play has already won the annual Play Right Prize at the University of Lethbridge (2011) and the Dorothy White Award (Second Place) at Ottawa Little Theatre (2012). “Executed with flair and panache,” said adjudicator Garry Davey, “and leaves us with the harsh taste of reality in our increasingly overwrought world where so many people seem to desire black and white answers to every complex question, and heroes to save the day.”

ROLE TO BE CAST:
Max Malcolm, 55 – A Comic Book Artist. Well-dressed, friendly demeanor.
