Audition Notice: The License
Inadmissible Productions is looking to cast a production of The License, by Luigi Pirandello (translated by William Murray) for the upcoming 2012 Edmonton International Fringe Festival.
The License is a classic Pirandello tragicomedy about how people can become nothing but the labels society imposes on them. Judge D’Andrea is preparing to try a libel suit filed by Rosinello Chiarchiaro, but how can it be libel—everyone knows Chiarchiaro has been cursed by the Evil Eye! Just superstitious nonsense in D’Andrea’s eyes, but who is he to decide?
Seven roles are available:
Judge D’Andrea: Over 35 years old, male
Three other judges: Over 35 years old, both male and female actors will be considered
Marranca: D’Andrea’s porter/assistant, all ages and genders will be considered
Rosinella: Chiarchario’s daughter, under 30 years old
Chiarchiaro: A man supposedly possessed by the Evil Eye, over 30 years old
Auditions will be held Monday, June 18, 7:00 – 10:00 pm, at the University of Alberta, Fine Arts Building, Room 2-43. Auditions will be in 30 minute slots.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Prepared pieces are not required, but feel free to bring a favorite monologue. The script is available to read beforehand upon request. Please bring all July and August conflicts since the rehearsal schedule will be tight.
