Deal (Calgary): Early Bird Pricing extended – Industry Series – 2012 Magnetic North Theatre Festival

EARLY BIRD pricing for Cultural Industry passes has been extended to Friday, May 25, as has the deadline for booking with the Westin Hotel!

We are honoured to introduce this year’s Magnetic North Theatre Festival Industry Series to you all!

As many of you know, the Industry Series is Magnetic North’s professional development symposium dedicated to building networks and sharing the wealth of knowledge among Festival delegates. Offering workshops, panels, pitch and speed-dating sessions and forum discussions, the Industry Series provides a truly national forum for dialogue, networking and exchange. The Series has become a model for other festivals and organizations across the country and internationally, and has, we believe, fostered a spirit of collaborative exchange, development and interconnectedness among our national theatre community.

We think the Industry Series is a great chance to meet folks from across the country and abroad, to promote your projects and activities, to find out what is going on within our sector, and most importantly, to find ways we can continue to create opportunities together. Already, we have confirmed participation of producers and presenters from across the country, the USA, and beyond.

We’re very glad to be holding the festival in Calgary this year. It’s a city of paradoxes—a place where oil and finance provide the powerhouse for a conservative political juggernaut, yet a place headed by Canada’s first Muslim mayor, Naheed Nenshi, a political visionary and dedicated theatre nerd. It’s also a city where culture booms, especially within an exciting and engaged theatre community. To that end, we’ve invited Ghost River Theatre, one of Calgary’s most innovative creation companies, to program the Industry Series this year. In this way, we hope to give national and international presenters and practitioners a window into this strong, friendly and idiosyncratic theatre community. If you have not done so already, please book your accommodations. The Westin Calgary is offering a block of rooms at a discounted rate for a limited time (until May 25) so book early and don’t forget to mention Magnetic North!
