Volunteer (Calgary): Magnetic North Theatre Festival 2012

The Magnetic North Theatre Festival wants you! Become a part of our energetic volunteer team and connect with other like-minded theatre lovers from across the country, while lending invaluable support to this exciting national celebration of contemporary Canadian theatre.

For 10 years now, The Magnetic North Theatre Festival has played an important role in the promotion and evolution of theatre in Canada. Like the Magnetic North Pole, the festival shifts location and travels around the country every other year, treating Canadians to excellence in English theatre from every corner of our great nation. This year’s Festival will take place in Calgary from June 13th to June 23rd, 2012. Festival organizers will be looking for 120 enthusiastic volunteers to make this one-of-a-kind showcase of national theatre a great success. Your time and energy will assist MNTF in operating this outstanding festival, while supporting some of Canada’s finest theatre artists.

Our volunteers are entrusted to act as general ambassadors to visitors of the festival and may work in various capacities including but not limited to:

Administrative Support
Front of House
Transportation Dispatcher/Scheduler
Team Captains/Senior Volunteers

The Magnetic North Theatre Festival adheres to the values, principles, and standards for effective volunteer practices set forth by Volunteer Canada. We strive to provide meaningful and productive roles to our volunteers that benefit both parties. In addition to a fun and rewarding experience our volunteers receive:

  •       A collectible Magnetic North T-shirt
  •       An invitation to our closing night party
  •       One pre-booked, guaranteed seat per 8 hours of volunteer work, with access to all other festival productions and Magnetic Encounters events on a stand-by basis.

Volunteers will be required to attend an information and training session just prior to the festival, and are asked to commit to a minimum of four 4-hour shifts (minimum of 16 hours).
