The Board of Directors of The Shakespeare Company has announced Haysam Kadri as the new Artistic Producer. Haysam takes over from Iam Coulter who stepped down in December after eight years as head of the organization.
A graduate of the Birmingham Conservatory for classical training at the Stratford Festival, Haysam spent six seasons as a company member with the Stratford Shakespeare Festival of Canada. He has worked extensively as a Theatre Arts instructor with Red Deer College, Mount Royal University, and the University of Calgary. Haysam also spent several years working with Mount Royal University’s Shakespeare in the Park as an actor, director and artistic associate.
A native Calgarian, Haysam began his training at Mount Royal University and later earned his BFA at the University of Alberta. In his 13 years as a professional artist, he has gained valuable experience in a wide variety of disciplines. Haysam is an Actor, Director, Fight Choreographer, and Teacher. Haysam has built a strong reputation and is dedicated to the community. He was nominated for a Betty Mitchell Award in 2011 for his lead performance in The Shakespeare Company’s production of Macbeth.
