NEXTFEST 2012 AT THE ROXY THEATRE
Enbridge Nextfest High School Mentorship Program
Calling all high school playwrights, actors, directors, designers, stage managers, technicians, and theatre artists/creators…
High school students are invited to work in a professional theatre setting and showcase their talent at Edmonton’s largest emerging artists festival, Nextfest 2012.
Nextfest is an annual multi-disciplinary springtime arts festival dedicated to the cultivation, development, and dissemination of the emerging professional artist’s voice. Its theme is based on the tenets of youth, development, and new artistic works.
Ways to get involved:
Shadow a professional playwright, actor, director, designer (set/lighting/costume), stage manager, theatre technician, or dramaturg while they produce a show at Next Fest.
Submit your play to be considered for a staged reading or full production.
Work on a production written by a high school student as an actor, director, designer, or stage manager.
We respond to unique artistic proposals: send us your script, idea, musing, or rant.
There may also be opportunities for those interested in dance, choreography, music, visual art, and film & video.
Nextfest is an opportunity to:
Facilitate emerging high school artists’ education through mentoring with professional artists in a festival setting.
Cultivate new works by emerging high school artists in a multitude of disciplines.
Create a common ground for the emerging generation of artists to exchange ideas and to build artistic relationships that will serve the community in the years to come.
Provide an environment for the emerging generation of artists to explore other disciplines and create inter-disciplinary work.
Introduce audiences to the artistic voice and vision of the next generation.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: MARCH 31 2012
