Theatre Junction GRAND announced yesterday that its Artistic Director, Mark Lawes, has been appointed as a Laureate of the City of Paris and selected to participate in the Institut français artist-in-residence programme at the Récollets in Paris, France.
Mark was selected as one of 20 international artists, and one of six artists to work in performance art. The purpose of the programme is to host artists who have a specific project to develop in Paris to ensure the project is in harmony with Paris and its cultural environment. Mark will begin the three month residency this coming July where he will begin a new project exploring hybridity and the nomadic identity in the context of globalization.
Mark is the founding Artistic Director of Calgary’s Theatre Junction. Since 2005 and the reinvention of Theatre Junction GRAND, Mark has been working as a director/creator with an international multidisciplinary company of artists.
